ROHAN FRANCIS

Rohan Francis was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in the Los Angeles area. As a youth, he loved sci-fi cartoons, movies and television shows that involved high technology. He also loved basketball, and dreamed of playing in the NBA like his favorite ball players Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson. He saw basketball as art in motion. He often filmed he and his friends playing basketball. Rohan would then edit the highlight footage to music using two VCRs. Remember those things?        Rohan Francis was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in the Los Angeles area. As a youth, he loved sci-fi cartoons, movies and television shows that involved high technology. In high school, as part of course assignments, Rohan wrote, directed, and starred in two short film projects. It was at that time he began thinking of a future in filmmaking.

Rohan earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television Production from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts where he focused on writing and directing narrative sci-fi dramedies. Along with being a narrative filmmaker, Rohan also serves as an in-house Director/Maker for Deutsch / Steelhead (production arm), a leading creative studio in the advertising industry. At Deutsch, Rohan’s had a hand in capturing and crafting video ads for brands such as Dr Pepper, Snapple, Taco Bell, Adobe, Girls Inc. of L.A., and The One Club.

Rohan loves spending time with family and friends, advocating for social justice, road tripping in his EV, experiencing sci-fi cinema and TV shows, watching the L.A. Clippers, jamming to 90’s R&B, and having breakfast for dinner.
